A large German padlock, dating 1st half of the 17th century AD. Heavy rectangular iron wrought body, the lower edge with open work heart, in a framed facade of the ancient temple. Heavy loop with a separate latching mechanism.

Provenance: Till 1965 in the private British collection of N.K. Since 1965 in a private British collection of Mr. W.L. Bought by the current owner in 2016 in London, from T.R. who had owned the item since 2000.

Offered in stable, well-preserved condition consistent with its age and burial history. Surfaces retain their original character; no modern restoration beyond conservation-grade stabilisation.
