Bronze follis of Anastasios I, date of reign 491–518 AD., Constantinople mint.

Obverse: bust of Anastasios I facing right with diadem, cuirass, and paludamentum. DNANSTA-SIVSPPAVC

Reverse: M with cross above, “epsilon” within, eight-pointed star in right and left fields, CON below.

Diameter: 33 mm

Weight: 18,2 g

Provenance: 1960s-1990s in the private British collection of C.E. Since 1990s in the private collection of J.S., London, UK. Bought by the current owner in 2017 from D.A. in London, UK, who had owned the item since 2010.
